Libraries
  Akron - Summit County Library
  This library has a great genealogy section located in the Special Collections area. Librarians are knowledgeable and helpful.
  Allen County Public Library
  Some researchers have called this library the best source of genealogy materials east of the Mississippi River.
  Barberton Library
  The library has an extensive collecion of Barberton history and genealogical resources, but the collection also emphasizes all of Summit County and focuses also on genealogical collections related to Stark, Medina, Portage and Wayne counties.
  Cincinnati Public Library and Hamilton County
  This award-winning library houses 190,000 maps, the third largest of any U.S. library, Cincinnati newspapers from the 1820s plus a local newspaper index of obituaries since 1930, city directories from 1819 to present, all available census records, the 1880 Soundex and selected Miracode for 1900 and 1910, Draper manuscripts, Library of Congress land ownership maps, the University Microfilms microfiche genealogy and local history collection.
  Cuyahoga Falls Public Library
  The Taylor Local History Room contains a large collection of photographs and other materials featuring individuals and businesses in the Cuyahoga Falls area. In addition, the Periodical Room has microfilm of the Cuyahoga Falls newspapers from the 1870’s through the present day.
  Family History Center
  The collection includes over 2.4 million rolls of microfilmed genealogical records; 727,000 microfiche; 356,000 books, serials, and other formats; over 4,500 periodicals and 3,725 electronic resources.
  Hudson Library & Historical Society
  The Elizabeth Gillespie Phipps Archives Room at the Hudson Library houses an extensive genealogy and local history collection. In addition to the materials relating to Hudson and Summit County, this collection includes sources emphasizing the eastern United States as well as a wide variety of genealogical periodicals.
  Library of Congress
  The Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution, and it serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world,
  Ohio Genealogical Society Library
  The research library is open to the public and contains over 15,000 books, including family histories, county histories, atlases, resource records, research aids, over 1500 rolls of microfilm, including all Ohio censuses.The fee for non-member library use is $5 per day.
  Ohio Historical Society Library
  The library is one of the American History Centers. The library has 130,000 books and is the repository of many state records including the Ohio Health Department death records. There are many county histories, newspapers and records and an Ohio surname file.
  State Library of Ohio
  The State Library of Ohio's genealogy collection is comprised of over 25,000 volumes and several thousand microforms. The collection focuses on Ohio as The Gateway to the West and therefore includes records for not only Ohio but also states east and south of the Ohio. Many Ohioans' ancestors migrated from these states to Ohio, some settling and some moving further west.
  Peninsula Library & Historical Society
  This collection focuses on the communities of the Cuyahoga Valley, including Peninsula, Boston Township, Boston Village, Everett, Boston Heights, Ira, and Jaite. Materials include maps, a vast photographic collection, cemetery records, scrapbooks, and news clippings
  Stark County District (Canton) Library
  Trace your ancestors with this extensive collection, both online and in print. Request for information forms are available on their pages.
  Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library
  The local history collection focuses on Stow and Munroe Falls history but does feature Summit County census records and genealogy magazines in addition to papers from local families and individuals.
  Twinsburg Public Library
  Featured in the Bissell Local History Room here are materials dealing with Twinsburg history. The collection also includes back issues of Twinsburg newspapers, local and county history books, directories, and family histories.
  University of Akron – Regional Archives
  As the regional archives depository for the counties of Summit, Ashland, Holmes, Coshocton, Portage, Richland, Stark, Tuscarawas, and Wayne, this facility collects and preserves the personal papers and historical records of governments, businesses, and civic organizations in these Ohio counties.   Western Reserve Historical Society Library
  Western Reserve Historical Society was one of the first institutions in America to collect genealogical materials and is, today, one of the largest family history research centers in the country. Although the focus of the collections is on source materials for the region east of the Mississippi River, major sources for other states are collected, especially through donation.

  Akron Beacon Journal
  This site has information on the Akron area and news from the Akron Beacon Journal. You can check the News Library for older articles in the Beacon Journal and other newspapers. You can read an index free, but there is a fee for viewing the complete text of an article. See the web site for details.

  Ohio Genealogical Society
  The Ohio Genealogical Society is the largest state genealogical society in the United States. Its mission is to meet the educational needs of its members and the general public through the acquisition, preservation, and dissemination of genealogical and historical information.
  Hudson Genealogical Study Group
  The Hudson Genealogical Study Group is a chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and is primarily concerned with the area in and near the City of Hudson in Summit County, Ohio.
  Munroe Falls Historical Society
  The reference library of the Munroe Falls Historical Society contains materials pertaining to the histories of Ohio, Summit County, Akron, Brimfield, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Twinsburg, Northampton, Tallmadge, Stow and Munroe Falls.
  Portage County Historical Society
  The Society has a non-lending library which contains a wealth of information on Portage County. Much of the materials are one of a kind. This site also includes the Portage Genealogical Society.

  DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution)
  Non-profit, women's organization for the descendants of individuals who aided in achieving American independence. Their website has an on-line database to look-up ancestors and descendants recognized by the DAR.
  National Society, Sons of the American Revolution
  Fraternal society organized in 1889 for the male lineal descendants of patriots who served to promote the goals of freedom and independence
  National Genealogical Society
  The Society's mission is to serve and grow the genealogical community by providing education and training, fostering increased quality and standards, and promoting access to and preservation of genealogical records.
